10“H-Ug Project” Team implemented an activism action by participating in a Marathon and running for a special purpose.
On 09/04/2017, four H-Ug Project ambassadors from Greece, Japan, Austria and Cyprus participated successfully in the Istrian Marathon in Koper of Slovenia and ran 42 km and 21 km. Konstantinos, Saori and Andreas ran the 42 km and Dimitris ran the 21 km. There were intense emotions since the four ambassadors successfully passed the finish line.

Runners and attendants of the marathon had the chance to receive card postal of the “H-Ug Project” while registering. More than 5000 card postals destributed to them.

6H-Ug Project team started its new project, entitled as H-Ug within Balkans in Craiova in Romania on 3rd of April. Marilena, Konstantinos and Julien implemented two events at the following high schools: Colegiul National Fratii Buzesti and Colegiul National Stefan Velovan. The made several presentations and interacted with more than 150 students in total.

In the framework of their activities, the H-Ug team discussed about the value of volunteerism and education, narrated personal experiences and presented the documentary “Uganda through our eyes” with romanian subtitles. The team implemented also activities based on the non formal education. In the end of the event, the students offered stationary for the students in Africa and attached a wish for them. H-Ug project post cards have been distributed as presents to the students.

Marilena Maragkou represented H-Ug project in the three 2day training seminars of the Jean Monnet project “Include European Union Values-IncludU” at Thessaloniki on 2nd & 3rd of February 2017, at Mytilene on 21st and 22nd of February 2017 and in Athens on 10th and 11th of March 2017. The project is being conducted by the Jean Monnet Chair on European Union’s Education, Training, Research and Innovation Policies of the Department of International and European Studies, of the School of Economics, Business and International Studies, University of Piraeus.

The programme targets students and young people, teachers of all levels and focuses on fundamental values ​​of the European Union, such as multiculturalism, equality, tolerance and non-discrimination in order to familiarize themselves with these values ​​and the fruitful exchange of ideas and experiences through interactive and experiential workshops and innovative teaching methods.

In the framework of the activities of the project, H-Ug project participated in the workshop «Live Library" and constituted one of the live books. More than 400 students and teachers of secondary education had the change to get to know H-Ug and watch a part of the documentary “Uganda through our eyes”.

During summer 2016, two siblings from Greece traveled to Uganda in order to implement the voluntary, educational and non-funded H-Ug project in the depths of Africa. Marilena and Konstantinos implemented educational activities with an aim to inform and support students about studying opportunities in Europe.

After their return to Greece, they created a documentary about the experiences, activities in Africa and interviews from the protagonists. The siblings participated in several events through which they presented the program and the documentary. The impact of H-Ug Project is great not only in local African communities but also in European ones.
The H-Ug Project team is growing and is preparing for a second project, this time within Europe. The "H-Ug Project in the Balkans" includes activist and educational activities in the Balkans and initially aims to inform and motivate youth and also to collect stationary for students in African schools.

19.04, Skopje in FYROM: Event with a focus on "The value of volunteerism". The H-Ug Project team will visit the International Nova School and will present the program, the documentary and implement experiential activities with students related to volunteering and education.

20 - 28.04, Le Mans in France: The H-Ug Project will be represented in the youth exchange program entitled «Human Rights Here Wright Now», during which there will be a presentation of the program and screening of the documentary "Uganda through the our eyes."

29.04, Chalkida in Greece: The H-Ug Project team will participate in an event organized by various educational institutions of the city and will give a TED ED talk in a platform for secondary school students about the value of education and volunteering.

The H-Ug - Help Uganda Project interacted with students of the Kolegji "Fryme Dashurie"- Κολλέγιο "Πνοή Αγάπης" in Albania through skype and discussed about the value of Volunteerism and education especially nowadays, presenting the case of the H-Ug Project! Aglaia Rizou, teacher in the school, contributed to this collaboration.
